Activities on the Reserve

Guests of Mount Ida Reserve’s destination weekends have the option to choose between several activity packages on the 7,000 acre reserve and around Southern Albemarle. *All activities are only available for those guests staying in homes on the Property during the wedding weekend. All activities are weather permitting.*

Water’s Edge Mini-Resort – 4 hours

Soak up the sun on Mount Ida’s white-sand lake-front beach. Relax with your friends and family on the beach of private Lake Reventon, the largest private lake in Albemarle County. Our lake house will provide you with all of the amenities that you need to enjoy a stress free afternoon- full kitchen with bottled waters, dish ware, linens, lounge chairs and cushions, umbrellas, and picnic table. A Mount Ida shuttle will take you to and from the lake. Upscale restroom trailer available for your use. Guests have access to the following beach activities:

  • Paddle Boards
  • Water Floats
  • Water Trampoline
  • Volleyball Court

Hot Air Balloon – 1.5 hours

Experience the Reserve from the clouds. Take in the Blue Ridge Mountains and 7,000 acres of wildlife from a tethered hot air balloon. Sunrise or sunset rentals available.

Tasting Room & Taphouse

Your Mount Ida shuttle will take you to and from the Tasting Room where you can enjoy preferred seating or use of our private event space for up to 25 guests. Please call to coordinate with the tasting room in advance. Food and beverage, gratuity, or credit card processing fees are not included. Reservations are subject to availability. Use of the Mount Ida shuttle is complimentary with your overnight stay at Mount Ida Reserve.

Local Activities

Take in the sights, tastes, history, and adventure of Central Virginia during your stay at Mount Ida Reserve. Once you have booked your activity, please arrange for shuttle transportation or gate access with Mount Ida no later than two weeks prior to your stay. Tubing down The James

A Mount Ida Reserve shuttle will provide transportation to James River Runners at historic Hatton Ferry in neighboring Scottsville. James River Runners will provide tube or kayak rentals and bus transportation to the river drop-in where you will leisurely float three miles down the James River, back to Hatton Ferry where a Mount Ida shuttle will pick you up.

Hop on Tours

Choose between private tours of local vineyards, distilleries, breweries, and cideries. A C’Ville Hop On Tour shuttle will pick you up and take you on a guided adventure of the region’s award-winning tasting rooms.

Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello

Enjoy an afternoon at Thomas Jefferson’s historic home. Take a guided tour of the famous house and gardens and peruse the cafes, shops, and educational exhibits on the mountain. A Mount Ida shuttle will take you to and from the Monticello Grounds.

Tee-Time

Play a round of 9 or 18 holes or work on your back-swing at the driving range at Central Virginia’s many golf courses. A Mount Ida shuttle will take you to and from the course of your choice. Please book your tee-time with the course.
